ARQ has been on my radar for a bit, at first for their kid offerings (for my daughter) and again when they launched adult versions of their beloved base layers. My criteria is fairly simple: comfortable, sustainable, affordable. I’ve settled on some that are good but not great and never quite perfect. I think they could really slam it out of the ballpark by including some trans women or non-binary folx on their page with a bit more androgynous presentation.I’ve been searching for the perfect base layers for years now. My only small real gripe is that I would LOVE to see more gender representation on their socials. There is a bit of an aura of exclusivity around the brand, from the modern design of their website and socials to their highly enamored group of fangirls who come with a following of their own. I understand better than most that sustainable clothing made with ethical production comes with a higher price tag. I am quite enamored with all aspects of the company, the price of the products just hurt a bit. They also feature models of all different sizes and colors on both their socials and also on their website. Their size range goes from XS to 3X and they have two options of bras that have varying amounts of coverage to appeal to a wide range of body types. We ship (USPS whenever possible - woo!) in entirely plastic-free, recyclable shipping materials, and we are always learning and looking for ways to reduce waste in every step of our processes. From that starting point, we also ensure that our cotton is GOTS certified organic and dyed using BlueSign or GOTS certifications,* and we contract with a family-owned, US sewing factory that we are really proud to have as a partner. One of the things we love about making your underpants is that they are arguably (no judgement here!) an essential item that most are unlikely to thrift or share and are usually worn until they need to be retired. The other really nice features are the great size range and their transparency about production on their website. Slap my ass and call me a cool-girl, I can’t help it.

What can I say? I’m a SHOP ARQ convert now. The bra is 100% the star of the show here and I am ashamed to admit I know I will be back to drop more cash on more bras. I prefer a bit more compression in my high waisted underwear but I definitely understand the appeal of having a more comfortable pair.

I like the underwear but they’re nothing game changing. I used a bit of my Christmas money to splurge on more bras because I was wearing the one I got before to death.
Arq bra sizing skin#
It’s comfy, has no skin rubbing properties, and looks pretty good underneath clothes! If I was wearing a super fitted outfit with dramatic shaping I would probably still wear a real bra with foam and underwire but you would be hard pressed to find me a bra that’s not a SHOP ARQ full coverage bra. There’s enough support to keep the boobs in the general landscape where they’re supposed to be but there’s no compression so there’s no discomfort. TMI: When I was a very active teenager I was constantly getting cysts on my chest in-between my breasts because it was basically another arm pit producing sweat. Even a sports bra had started to drive me nuts because when you have 38G breasts you’re basically just smashing two bowling balls into pancakes and there is a lot of discomfort but mostly A LOT of sweat. Before the ARQ bra I was constantly wrestling between a padded underwire bra for full coverage and shape and a sports bra for working out or to escape the pain of a real bra. I picked up my set last spring during quarentine and oh my god was my life changed. I know this is supposed to be mostly an underwear review but I cannot stress enough that the star of the show is the full coverage bra. Tell your credit cards I’m sorry but tell your boobs hello to a new level of comfort. I regret to inform you that yes, the SHOP ARQ intimates are just as good as everyone says.
